Council Recycling/Waste Notice Board - Waverley Council
Information from your local council.
PUBLIC PLACE RECYCLING
This year Council rolled out permanent public place recycling facilities at Bondi Beach, following a successful trial. This followed a successful roll out of public recycling bins at popular Bronte Beach.
Visitors to Bronte and Bondi Beaches can now recycle their bottles and cans to keep our beaches beautiful and precious resources out of landfill.
Look out for new water stations being installed at Bondi to encourage people to refill their water bottles rather than buying another one.
REVERSE GARBAGE NOW CLOSER TO HOME
Residents in Sydney's east will be pleased to know that Reverse Garbage has opened an additional premises in Taylor Square, Darlinghurst.
Reverse Garbage accepts industrial, domestic and commercial discards, reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, making them cheaply available to the community.
A great place to dispose of or pick up materials for art, renovations, home, school...just about anything you can think of! Call 9569 3132 for information.
BATTERY RECYCLING PROGRAM
Waverley residents can now recycle domestic batteries at the Customer Service Centre at 55 Spring Street, Bondi Junction.
Deposit small batteries such as those used in cameras, torches, toys, tools and appliances in the battery recycling containers at this location, and help reduce the 8,000 tonnes of batteries heading for Australian landfills each year.
We can accept the following batteries for recycling:
- alkaline batteries
- lithium batteries
- nickel cadmium (NiCd)
- nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries.
Take large acid or car batteries to your next local Chemical Cleanout www.cleanout.org.au
Handle batteries carefully when transporting them and ensure the acid does not leak.
