Household Chemical Collection in Maroondah City Council – it’s safe, easy and free!
Detox Your Home is a free service provided by Sustainability Victoria in conjunction with Maroondah City Council - designed to collect potentially dangerous household chemical products and dispose of them without putting strain on the environment.
Residents can deposit their unwanted products on Saturday 25 February, 2012 from 8.00am to 4.00pm at the Council Operations Depot, 24 – 28 Lincoln Road, Croydon.
Chemicals accepted include: motor oil*, old paints, batteries, gas cylinders, insecticides & pesticides, kitchen & bathroom cleaners, brake fluids, fuels & coolants, poisonous household & garden products, solvents, glues, photographic chemicals & fire extinguishers.
Materials not accepted include: chemicals used by business for industrial/commercial purposes, ammunition & flares, farm chemicals, waste asbestos and containers over 20 litres.
The collected materials will be treated and recycled, or disposed of safely by a specialist team.

*Please note the Sustainability Victoria - Detox Your Home brochures sent out to Maroondah residents during December 2011 state that no motor oil can be taken. This is incorrect; up to 20L of motor oil can be taken per individual.
