Cartridges 4 Planet Ark
'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' is an innovative recycling program that provides Australians with a free and easy way to recycle their used printer cartridges. On this RecyclingNearYou site Australians can find literally thousands drop off of locations around the country to recycle their used printer cartridges and toner bottles.
Used printer cartridges of any type or brand can be dropped into a 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' collection box at participating Australia Post, Officeworks, Dick Smith, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman or JB Hi-Fi stores.
Or if your workplace uses more than 3 cartridges a month you can receive a free collection box for your office.
The 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' program is an example of an effective extended producer responsibility program. The cost of collecting, transporting, and recycling the cartridges, as well as promoting the program, is paid for by the participating equipment manufacturers - Brother, Canon, Epson, HP, Konica Minolta, Kyocera and Lexmark.
Using patented Australian technology, the 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' program ensures zero-waste to landfill. A large proportion of the cartridges are returned to the original manufacturer for their own component recovery programs. The remaining cartridge waste components are recycled, with some of the plastic being used to produce eWoodTM - a timber replacement product used to make items such as outdoor furniture, fencing and garden edging.
